Bat Selection

ENGLISH WILLOW
English Willow by nature is a soft fibrous reed. Performance and durability are enhanced by drying and pressing. In normal usage, willow will become bruised, scared or dented simply due to the nature of the game (the impact with the ball). The performance of the bat will not be affected. Such marking can occur at any time during the lifespan of the bat.

KASHMIR WILLOW
Willow grown out of England is by nature much harder than English willow. Therefore bats made from this type of willow will not have a comparable level of performance with English willow bats.

SHORT HANDLE
(SH) is a standard length handle in a men’s size. This is preferred by most adult cricketers.

LONG BLADE
Long Blade bats are made 2.5cm longer in the blade and fitted with a standard length handle.

SMALL MEN'S
Small Men’s (SM) bats are specifically sized with a full sized blade and a youth size handle to produce a bat between a youths and full size bat for the graduating player.

HARROW OR YOUTHS
Harrow (H) or youths sized bats have a youth sized blade and handle generally made for the 12-14 year age group. Junior cricketers need to select a bat the right size and weight to develop natural stroke play. Rely on The Kilbirnie Sports team for the right advice.
